What does it mean to you to be a first-generation student/graduate?

For me it means that I persevered despite the circumstances and am one of the first in my family to earn a college degree.

Why is being a first-generation student/graduate important to you?

It is important to me because my parents made significant sacrifices to ensure that I became a college graduate. It brought them so much joy to see me and my siblings earn our degrees. Also, hopefully my success will inspire others in similar circumstances and situations to also strive to be successful.

What piece of advice would you give to first-generation students?

“Try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value.” ~ Albert Einstein
