What does it mean to you to be a first-generation student/graduate?
It was a challenge to complete my degree during my 40’s so I considered it a huge accomplishment. My mother passed away when I started back to complete my degree and she was my inspiration.
Why is being a first-generation student/graduate important to you?
Education is very important to one’s success. It was an honor to be a first-generation student and pave the way for my children and grandchildren to continue this legacy.
What piece of advice would you give to first-generation students?
Go to class! Utilize the many resources available for first-gen students at the U of A.
