CCE – Center for Community Engagement – where your student can get involved with community service on campus and the surrounding area.

OSA – Office of Student Activities – an office on campus dedicated to helping your student get involved and find information on specific student organizations.

NSFP – New Student & Family Programs – where you or your student can receive help during their first year and beyond.

ASG – Associated Student Government – the governing body of students at the University of Arkansas.

UP – University Programs – the programming board that plans events on campus for your student.

DLC – Distinguished Lectures Committee- a part of the Office of Student Activities that brings large lectures to campus.

DSA – Division of Student Affairs – departments that provide co-curricular activities for students outside of the classroom.

ARKU – Arkansas Union – the student center on campus with various dining, banking, and retail options.

OCSS – Off Campus Student Services – where your student can find valuable resources to make their transition to off-campus living as smooth as possible.

UACONNECT – a web-based integrated student information system, where students can access information from the Registrar, Student Accounts, Admissions, and Financial Aid offices.

CAPS – Counseling and Psychological Services – where your student can go to get help with  solving problems, growing personally, developing more satisfying relationships with friends and family, and receiving help with other mental health issues.

HPER – Health, Physical Education, and Recreation building – where your student can work out.

RSO – Registered Student Organizations – the name of all student clubs/groups on campus.  Students can get involved with over 400 religious, service, professional, cultural, Greek, or governing organizations.

SSS – Student Support Services – an office committed to assisting first generation, modest income, and/or students with a disability in being successful in college.

SI – Supplemental Instruction – a service that allows your student to take a series of weekly review sessions for historically difficult courses.

OSSC – Office of Student Standards and Conduct – an office on campus dedicated to helping your student be responsible for their actions and ensuring a safe learning/living atmosphere for all students.

RA – Resident Assistant – a trained undergraduate student who lives in the residence halls and helps build community and maintain a positive living environment for the residents living in the building.

CRE – Coordinator for Residence Education – each residence hall has a full-time Coordinator for Residence Education who lives in the building and has an office located in the hall. CRE’s are responsible for residence hall programs and activities, promoting community, encouraging academic success, and leadership development.

CIR – Counselor in Residence – doctoral students who live in the residence halls and are enrolled in Counselor Education courses. CIR’s are trained to listen to and assist your student with problem solving and making life decisions.

FIR – Faculty in Residence – faculty members who live in residence halls that assist in strengthening the academic and intellectual cultures of residence halls at the University of Arkansas.

SBI – Strengths Based Initiatives – an office on campus dedicated to helping your student find their strengths and utilize their talents for success.

SAA – Student Alumni Association – a student organization which coordinates many activities including Homecoming. Students receive a 5% discount off textbooks as an SAA member at the University Bookstore.

XNA – Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport – the closest airport to the University of Arkansas, located about 25 minutes away in Bentonville, Arkansas.

UAPD – University of Arkansas Police Department

PFA – Parent & Family Association – an organization parents can join to assist them in supporting their student success at the U of A. To join, visit http://parents.uark.edu/.

Club Mullins – the main library on campus, Mullins Library, is called this by students, specifically during finals indicating that they spend all night there.

The Hill – the University of Arkansas/Fayetteville.

Brough – one of the dining halls on campus.

Dickson – a main street in Fayetteville with many restaurants and businesses located near campus.

Razorbuck$ – a debit system that allows students to load money to their Student ID Card and use at multiple on and off-campus merchants.

Flex $ – money that is included with most meal plans and can be used only for food purchases at almost any Chartwells dining location on campus.

Blackboard – a web-based, classroom learning tool that many instructors utilize to provide course material to students.

Razorback Transit – free bus and paratransit system that serves the U of A and Fayetteville communities.   The full transit service runs during weekdays from 7:00 am-6:00 pm and a reduced route schedule from 6:00 pm-10:30 pm.

Safe Ride – a program that provides students with safe transportation from any uncomfortable or inconvenient situation.

Work Study – the Federal Work Study program allows students that show financial need to work on campus to assist with paying educational expenses.

RazALERT – the University of Arkansas emergency notification system that sends out alerts whenever hazardous conditions arise on campus. Students can designate through their ISIS accounts how they want to be notified.

Late Night – a “late night” meal option for meal plan holders from 5:00 pm-11:00 pm in the Union Food Court.

The Pit – the parking lot located in front of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium (Lot 44).

Uptown Campus – the satellite campus located on North College Avenue in Fayetteville near the NWA Mall.  Offices on this campus include Pre-College Programs, Spring International Language Center, UAConnect, and the Registrar.

Razorback Access Pass – student ticket plan for all home football and men’s basketball games.

Hog W.I.L.D. Welcome Weeks – activities and events that take place at the beginning of each semester which allows students to get acquainted to campus and the Fayetteville community.

The Traveler – the student newspaper on campus.

StrengthsFinder – a tool given to all first year students to help them identify their top talents and strengths.

The Stoop – the outside sitting area in front of Founder’s Hall.

The Eliminator – a very steep hill on the west side of campus leading down to Pomfret and the HPER.

Cafe Tusk – the on-campus food truck, which provides a variety of food options for students on the go, typically located behind Old Main.

Garland Bookstore – the main bookstore located on campus, also known as the University of Arkansas Bookstore. Here students can rent, buy, and sell textbooks.

Garland Center – various businesses and boutiques located near the University of Arkansas Bookstore, including: Subway, Bold Dental, Walmart On Campus, Enrich Salon, Mertins Eye Care, Lewis & Clark Outfitters, Belle Boutique, and First Security Bank.

Lot 56 – one of the biggest parking lots on campus, mainly used by commuter students, located on the corner of Razorback Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Business Plaza – the area of buildings that includes the Walton College of Business.

Throwing the A – a new University of Arkansas tradition started by Jen Beliema, where you form two peace signs with your hands and overlap them to form the letter “A.”

Small Mart – the Walmart On Campus located in the Garland Center. Features a full-service pharmacy and various food and retail items.

Shop-N-Swap – an online program used by University Housing which allows students to select their residence hall. When students log-in to Shop-N-Swap they will see all rooms available for them to choose from.

Razorbikes – a program which allows students to check-out loaner bikes on campus through Transit and Parking.

Cardinal Nights – a series of late-night events open to all students held on specific nights of each semester.
